You absolutely can. The batter is a perfect cobbler base, and you can use blueberries, blackberries, raspberries, cherries, plums, apples, any sort of fruit. You can even use pie filling (but fresh is better), and leave off the cup of sugar on the fruit. I use this recipe every summer with whatever fruit is fresh.

One time it would have Crystal hot sauce and thyme. Next might be ginger and soy sauce, or garlic and curry powder, sage and lemon juice. Always with chopped onions, yellow, white, or green.
